Night in Hotel Hamar
We stayed one night at main building and two nights at the cabin. The cabin was great! Our kids said, "I don't want to leave, and we want to come back here!" Originally, we had reservations near Mt. Kirkjufell, but we couldn't go there with bad snow weather. The first 2 nights of our booking was waste, If you are planning to go Mt. Kitkjufell or Northan than Borgarnes in the winter time, I recommend staying Hotel Hamar, then seeing weather conditions, being flexible. Hotel Hamar is the great focal point for your West Island stays. The cabin has 1 queen bed and 1 sofar (queen size) bed. 2 adults and 2 kids (9yr and 6yr) had all conformable stays.

We had the opportunity to have 3 stays at this hotel with the chance to experience different rooms. All comfortable and very clean. The rooms with the view to the garden are worth the additional cost as the view from and over the golf course to the mountains are stunning, especially from the suite. The majority of staff is very friendly at reception and restaurant. The restaurant and bar have a good variety of options and the quality is excellent. Very good breakfast! The hotel is also very well located to many attractions in the region as well as to a base point to explore the peninsula.

At check-in, they asked if we wanted to receive a wake up call to our room during the night if they saw the northern lights. Of course we said yes! Well, as it turns out, the front desk called about 12:30am, and we went outside and there they were! I stayed up for the next hour just watching and taking pictures. The front desk agent was outside too helping all the guests take pictures - there was a certain setting on the phone that was needed to best capture the lights during the night.

Stayed here while travelling for only one night. Terrible weather and very windy when we got there so it was amusing to see people still playing golf. Rooms were spacious, clean and warm after the outside weather. Also warmly welcomed by the receptionist. Had dinner there which was excellent. Breakfast also very good. Attached to a golf club so a nice green area.

David

Well furnished and comfortable cabin. Staff at the desk and restaurant were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant food was simple but good.
